How to create your own apps with AI
“You need to learn to sing. Because if you don’t, you’re always going to be at the mercy of some asshole singer.” - Some guitar teacher
This point is about self-reliance. If you ever have any ideas, whether it's to build something physical or an app, you need to have some basic skills to turn that idea into reality.
I went to college to study computer science because I liked building cool tools and apps that can be used by others.
One of the most common things I hear from aspiring entrepreneurs is, “I have this idea for an app or site. But I’m not technical, so I need to find someone who can make it for me.”
But most good programmers are already busy and expensive. I have heard this countless number of times.
"I just need to find my Steve Wozniak"
"I just need to convince someone technical to work with me"
It’s like learning to drive or make dinner. You only need to learn enough so you’re not helpless.
It's now 2025 and you can easily learn to build your own apps. So, you should learn some programming. Basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are enough to start.
It’s a really amazing feeling. The mystery is lifted. Once you know some of the basics, you’ll look at all websites in a new way.
You’ll understand what’s going on behind the scenes. You’ll know how to do it yourself. It’s really empowering. (It’s definitely been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever learned.)
For an inspiring example see Derek Sivers, who learned to code by building and built his own payment portal for his books.
